Healing from the Inside Out

The First Step is Always Inward

Healing from the Inside Out

At The Inner Well, we believe healing begins in a space where you feel safe enough to bring your whole self, your pain, uncertainty, vulnerability, and hope, and know that you will be met with compassion, curiosity, and respect. Often, the parts of ourselves we've worked hardest to protect are the very places where healing is waiting to begin. We recognize that coping strategies, therapeutic tools, and medication can all play an important role in helping us find stability and navigate life's challenges. While these supports are valuable, our work also focuses on gently exploring what lies beneath the surface, understanding the experiences and emotional wounds that continue to shape how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others. Lasting healing happens when we care for the source of the pain, not just its symptoms. Many people appear to be functioning well on the outside while quietly carrying anxiety, grief, shame, trauma, or emotional disconnection within. Our goal is to help you move beyond simply surviving and toward a life of greater emotional freedom, self-acceptance, and meaningful connection. Using evidence-based therapies grounded in empathy and genuine human connection, we walk alongside you as you rediscover your own resilience, wisdom, and capacity to heal. We believe that within every person is an inner well of strength and hope. Sometimes life covers it over, but it is never lost. Together, we'll help you reconnect with that well, so healing can truly come from the inside out.

Kim Bremner

MA, CCC, RCT-C

Becoming a therapist later in life has given Kim a unique perspective and a deep sense of empathy and understanding for those navigating life’s challenges. Her own journey has not always been filled with rainbows and butterflies. She has walked through difficult seasons and experienced the kind of growth and healing that comes from finding your way through them. It is through her own healing that Kim has learned to sit with others in their pain, to be present without judgment, to hold space for what feels difficult, and to trust that healing is possible even when the way forward is not yet clear. These experiences have shaped the therapist she is today, allowing her to meet clients where they are with warmth, acceptance, and unconditional positive regard. Kim works with individuals experiencing trauma, attachment wounds, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, addiction, phobias and feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed. She believes we must feel to heal and is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients can reconnect with themselves and experience meaningful emotional growth. Outside of her practice, Kim is a mom to two sons and feels grateful for the privilege of watching them grow into young men. She is happiest near the water, spending time with the people she loves, getting outdoors, camping, and enjoying the quieter moments of life. She has a good sense of humor and loves a good laugh. She also enjoys a good cold plunge in a lake or the ocean, embracing the reset and sense of peace that follows. She believes there is something powerful about slowing down, being present, and making space for what truly matters.

Approaches to Healing

My approach is rooted in a belief that meaningful healing begins beneath the surface, alongside trauma-informed care. We work together to uncover the patterns, emotions, and experiences that may no longer serve you, creating a path toward greater emotional freedom and self-discovery. In our sessions, you'll find a safe space for your story, held with compassion, curiosity, and clinical expertise. Below are a list of approaches that I draw from to ensure the best care for your individual journey.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Brainspotting

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a transformative approach that can help you make sense of your internal world and find balance at your own pace and in an emotionally tolerable way. IFS works by helping you meet and understand the different “parts” inside you, like an anxious part, an angry part, your self-critical part, or other parts that try to keep you emotionally safe but at the same time create havoc in your day to day. These parts often develop in response to past experiences, carrying fears, beliefs, or emotional pain that can affect your choices and relationships without you even realizing it. In IFS therapy, you are guided gently to explore these parts, listen to what they are trying to tell you, and help release burdens that more vulnerable parts have been carrying. As you do this, you create space for your true self, the calm, compassionate, wise part of you, to step forward. This process allows you to move through life with more clarity, freedom, and inner peace, no longer trapped by old patterns or unresolved emotions that you may likely have not even been aware of. IFS is especially effective for trauma, attachment injury, addiction, anxiety, and inner conflict, but it also helps anyone who feels stuck in cycles of self-criticism or emotional overwhelm. Healing happens as your parts begin to trust you, and you reconnect with the calm center inside you, your inner well of strength.

Our brains are constantly taking in enormous amounts of information through our senses; what we see, hear, smell, taste, touch, and feel in our environment as well as somatic and emotional input whether in or out of awareness. Much of this information is processed rapidly, automatically, and outside of our conscious awareness, before our thinking brain has had a chance to fully understand what is happening. This is one reason why emotions or somatic distress attached to an experience can “get in” and "get stuck" without us consciously realizing it. Many things can activate our nervous system and become connected to an emotional or bodily response before we have the words or awareness to make sense of it. Sometimes, years later, something in the present can activate that old response, leaving us wondering, “Why am I reacting this strongly? I know I’m safe, so why does my body feel like I’m not?” This is where the wisdom of the body becomes important. Our brain is not only in our head; it is connected to our whole body. Not everything we carry is accessible through the thinking part of our brain and talking alone. Sometimes, the nervous system is holding onto experiences that our conscious mind has moved past, forgotten, or never fully understood. Brainspotting offers a way to gently open those "file folders" connected to our experiences and process what the body may still be carrying. Rather than forcing the mind to figure everything out, we create space for the brain and nervous system to process what may have been left unresolved, helping old, “stuck” experiences move toward healing.

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy

Faith-Based Counselling (Upon Request)

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is grounded in attachment science; the understanding that we are all wired for emotional connection, safety, and security. When those needs are disrupted through painful experiences, loss, or unmet emotional needs, we can carry wounds that continue to influence how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to life. EFIT provides a safe and compassionate space to gently explore the deeper emotions related to attachment, beneath our reactions and the patterns we developed to protect ourselves. Often, these protective patterns began earlier in life, when we were doing the best we could with what we had. Sometimes, a younger and more vulnerable part of us is still carrying emotions, needs, or beliefs from those experiences, even when our rational adult brain may try to convince us otherwise. Together, we slow down and make space for those deeper emotions, not to relive the past, but to understand what happened, what was needed, and what still needs care. With support and guidance, clients can begin to process old attachment wounds at a deeper level and develop a more secure relationship with themselves. As this healing unfolds, clients often experience greater self-trust, emotional safety, openness, and connection with others. They can begin to respond to life from a place of greater security rather than from old patterns of protection. EFIT is not simply about functioning better, it is about feeling better from the inside out, creating meaningful emotional change and a deeper sense of wholeness.

For many Christians, faith is at the heart of life’s purpose and healing journey. Having a therapist who shares your spiritual foundation can make all the difference, someone who understands the importance of prayer, grace, and biblical truth alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Faith-based counselling offers a safe space to explore life’s challenges through both a psychological and spiritual lens, integrating theology with modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFIT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other approaches. Together, we can invite God’s presence into the healing process, drawing on Scripture and biblical principles to restore peace, renew hope, and strengthen your relationship with Him as you grow in emotional and spiritual wholeness. Let us know if you would like to incorporate faith in your therapeutic journey.

Other Approaches to Healing

Although I predominantly rely on Brainspotting, and an IFS, and EFIT informed approach, I will at times bring in components of other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy to suit clients as needed as we work through deeper processing.

Fees and Insurance

Individual Sessions

Virtual and In-Person

50 minute session: $175

80 minute session: $225

110 minute session:  $325

A Note About Session Length

While appointments are booked as 60-minute time slots, you receive 50 minutes of dedicated counselling, with the remaining time set aside for confidential record-keeping. Likewise, 90-minute appointments include 80 minutes of counselling, and 120-minute appointments include 110 minutes of counselling, with the final 10 minutes reserved for documentation.

While many clients find a 50-minute counselling session meets their needs, healing isn't always something that fits neatly into an hour. Some conversations take a little longer to unfold, and some experiences deserve the space to be explored without feeling rushed.

For clients who are navigating more complex concerns, engaging in deeper trauma processing, or simply prefer a slower pace, I also offer 80-minute and 110-minute sessions. These extended appointments allow for more time to settle in, process difficult emotions, and leave feeling grounded rather than having to stop just as important work is beginning. Many clients are surprised by how quickly a session passes. If you've ever wished you had "just a little more time," an extended session may be the right fit for you.

Direct Billing & Insurance

Direct billing is available for many insurance providers. Please note that it is your responsibility to confirm that your extended health benefits include direct billing through your specific plan and to verify your coverage, including any limits, deductibles, or co-payments.

If direct billing is not available or you prefer to submit your claim yourself, a detailed receipt will be provided for reimbursement through your insurance provider.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved just for you and your active participation in the counselling process is necessary for meaningful and efficient progress to be made. Thus, we encourage you to attend all scheduled sessions. Additionally, a late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the counsellor's day that could have been used to serve other people. As such, we require 48 hours of notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who cancel less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours before the start of session with be charged a $50 fee.  Those who cancel within 24 hours of the appointment time, no-show, or are greater than 15 minutes late for their session will be charged the full session fee ($175). Cancellations or rescheduled sessions greater than 48 hours will not be held against you.
